Beverly Madron’s Speech to Martin Methodist College
What am I doing here? Reflections of a Conference Chairperson
“What am I doing here?” I have asked myself that question dozens of times since I became chairperson of the Tennessee Conference Commission on Religion and Race (CORR) last September, and every time I get a different answer.
Before monitoring your Annual Conference
Here are a dozen things you should do to prepare your team for the annual conference session monitoring experience.
CORR leaders advised to build influence for change
The head of GCORR recently counseled about 45 conference Religion and Race leaders to be strategic, well-informed and focused on building influence to achieve racial progress in their areas.
Detroit Conference CORR monitors, promotes inclusiveness
When the Detroit Annual Conference convenes, May 14-17, its Commission on Religion and Race (CORR) will be ready, as usual, with a team of volunteers recruited and trained to monitor the annual legislative session for racial/ethnic inclusiveness.
Diverse leaders learning to be CORR-ageous
A diverse gathering of leaders from conference commissions on Religion and Race shared their concerns and experiences recently as they learned from one another and from GCORR staff how to approach the challenges of being racial justice advocates. One leader shares her impressions and her own story
Monitoring reports should raise awareness
The purpose of the monitoring report is to raise awareness of an assembled body to its value of inclusiveness and to draw attention to how well that value is being lived out. The focus is a statistical report on the inclusion, or lack thereof, of diverse racial/ethnic identities represented in the body.
New CORR Connection Calendar needs your dates
We have created a CORR Connection Calendar of upcoming meetings and activities involving commissions on Religion and Race and counterpart groups* in our various annual conferences, and we need your help. Please send us information about upcoming meetings and events that involve your CORR ministry. See what's upcoming up around the connection so far.
Using the Monitoring Form
Monitoring forms are tools for recording participation data and observations related to behavior, language and environment. Here are step-by-step suggestions on how to use them.
What is the Ministry of Monitoring?
Monitoring is teaching and promoting inclusiveness as a core value that requires observation and reporting to ensure accountability and progress.
