As a child social justice and inclusiveness were important to me. Of course, I did not know what those terms meant then. My grandmother, Corrine, was a committed member of Williams Chapel CME Church in Front Royal, Va., where I would spend my summers as a child. She instilled a sense of justice and genuine fairness in me that I feel is my responsibility to continue upholding in her honor. Frances Jett Roberts is Assistant General Secretary for Administration and Human Resources (AGS for AHR) for the General Commission on Religion and Race (GCORR) and General Board of Church and Society (GBCS). Frances serves as staff for the Personnel Committee as the commission’s Human Resources Director. She plans and conducts human resources- related training, keeps staff informed of and in compliance with denominational personnel policies, and is administrator of Information Technology for GBCS and GCORR. Frances joined GBCS in April 1995 and then also joined GCORR in August 2008 in an innovative experiment that enables the two agencies to share her as their common HR administrator. She has served as an administrator at Calvary United Methodist Church in Arlington, Va.; an administrative assistant and also Program Director for Civil and Human Rights at GBCS. Frances is known for her work on Hate Crimes Legislation and creating the United Methodists against the Death Penalty (UMADP) Network.
