In 2005 I co-chaired a local United Methodist Volunteers in Mission trip to San Francisco Libre in Nicaragua.  The trip raised my awareness of the need for social justice for all God’s children and called me to seek employment where I could use my gifts in service to God’s kingdom. My work for GCORR and GBCS continues to keep me challenged and fulfilled in that call.

Wesley Paulson serves as the Chief Finance Officer for the United Methodist General Board of Church and Society (GBCS) and the General Commission on Religion and Race (GCORR). He joined GCORR’s staff in 2008 in a shared arrangement with GBCS, where he has been CFO since 2007.

Prior to joining GBCS, Wesley was employed for six years as the Finance Director for Workforce Development and Continuing Education at Montgomery College in Rockville, Md.  His wife, the Rev. Connie Paulson, is a retired United Methodist pastor in the Baltimore Washington Conference. Wesley is a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Kensington, MD where they both attend regularly.

Wesley received his Bachelor's degree in accounting and a Master's degree in finance from University of Maryland University College. He also attended the Harvard Institute for Educational Management.

Wesley’s community activities include trustee positions at the Methodist Home of the District of Columbia and the National Capital Trolley Museum in Maryland. He has served on the board of the Arts and Humanities Council of Montgomery County and the Conference and Visitors Bureau of Montgomery County. He served as president of the latter organization from 1999-2001.

Wesley is a graduate of Leadership Montgomery and maintains a membership in that organization. He has had several articles published by the National Capital Trolley Museum, and received a Telly Award (2003) for "This is My Story," a video history he produced for his church’s 50th anniversary.
