MARCHA not only advocates for effective participation of Hispanic/Latinos at all levels of the life of the church but also for the development of adequate resources to support the ministry of the United Methodist Church among the growing Hispanic/Latino communities across the nation and Puerto Rico.

MARCHA is joining with other organizations in advocating for the proper and fair revision of the immigration policies of the United States. At MARCHA's Annual Conference, this August, more than 200 Hispanic/Latinos of all jurisdictions in the country gathered in Chicago, Illinois to cry out for fair immigration reform. In a resolution passed by the assembly, Congress and President Barack Obama are urged to expedite reforms to the immigration system.

Bishop Minerva Carcano chairs a task force (UMC Immigration Task Force) charged with promoting guidance and education for the church in immigration issues. At the Annual Conference, she shared her thoughts on this area. "Some believe that comprehensive reform is not possible, but I think nothing is impossible and that everything is possible,"  said the Bishop in her opening address. "Like Esther, we must demand justice because God uses it to save his people," she added.
