On July 6, 2016, former staff member of the General Commission on Religion and Race, Kathleen (Kathy) Thomas Sano died after an extended illness. Kathy was a leader across The United Methodist Church and served the connection as staff of the General Board of Global Ministries and the General Commission on Religion and Race (GCORR). She was a tireless advocate for the rights of racial ethnic communities. GCORR General Secretary Erin Hawkins remembered Kathy as one whose “ministry mattered. Kathy made significant contributions to the racial ethnic caucus groups of The United Methodist Church. She always sought to bring people together and work across areas of injustice.” Please join GCORR in praying for Kathy’s husband, Bishop Roy Sano and all those who loved her as they gather to celebrate her life.
