Immersion: US/Mexico Border

In February 2017, GCORR board of directors traveled to the US/Mexico border to learn about the realities of immigrants, refugees and borderland communities. They visited United Methodist ministry sites and listened to stories about how US immigration policies impact families along the border. The trip, led by Rev. John Fanestil, pastor of Faith Cultivation and Leadership Development at First UMC of San Diego, included travel through the San Ysidro Port of Entry as well as worship and communion at the border wall.

Using the map above, we invite you to follow the journey we took crossing the border and listen to the stories that were shared.

GCORR is building the capacity of The United Methodist Church to be contextually relevant and to reach more people, younger people, and more diverse people as we make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.
